Way Out West BBQ Competition

Getting ready for the Way Out West BBQ Competition this Saturday, 7/3/10 in Stockton. So far there are 39 teams signed up.  Should be lots of fun.  People's Choice (attendees purchase tickets and each team sells their samples for the tickets) should be interesting since it starts at the same time as the competition turn-ins.

Busy Weekend

We are going to have a very busy weekend.  Have a small catering job (meats only) for about 30 people on Friday night for a friend celebrating her 12th year of being cancer-free. Yeah Patsy!  Then it's a bigger catering job for a company that returned from last year.  We'll be serving 70 adults and 25 kids at a local park.  Should be fun.  Then Sunday we are going to be doing a very small catering job for a Father's Day dinner.  Lucky Dads!  Although David is a great dad, he is giving up his leisure time for the business.  After we drop off the food, then we will come home and enjoy some relaxing time with some great wine.  Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

Weekend to catch up

Wow, finally have everything put away from last weekend's competition.  Had a great time and we are really looking forward to the next one in Stockton.  We have a small catering job this weekend and more test cooking to do.  Have to practice some more for the next competition.  The Ole Hickory will be fired up.  We were 2nd place in chicken which was the best we have ever done in chicken.  Got 3rd in ribs and that was also the best we have done.  Tenth place in pulled pork wasn't so good and 16th in brisket was awful.  Not much you can do when you get a tough piece of meat.  Need to practice more.  At least I can still eat brisket.  Don't mind the taste tests on that.

BBQ Competition Next Weekend

Looking forward to the competition in Penn Valley next weekend. So far there are 30 teams competing, mounted sharpshooting and quick draw competition.  Should be lots of fun. Also, there will be People's Choice where you can buy tickets to taste BBQ. We will be serving pulled pork, ribs and something else on Saturday.  Tri-Tip and chicken wings on Sunday.  Come by and say "Hi!"

Sunday Catering Job

Headed out to Lodi at 8 a.m. this morning to do a catering job.  It was an 18th birthday/High School Graduation. The sun was shining but the wind was blowing a gale. Wasn't very warm either. We were at Micke Grove Park - wow - what a beautiful park! Served Pulled Pork, Tri-tip, smoked hot dogs, BBQ beans, Penne Pasta with Pesto, and Green Salad. Everyone loved the food. Finally sitting down after all the cleanup.
